Our Food

Welcome to 9 Restaurant and Bar

Food at Nine

The food menu is in a permanent state of evolution, taking advantage of the seasonal and local produce grown by Sharon and Dan in their Wareham allotment. All meat is sourced locally and the fish is the best of the day’s catch, freshly caught off the South coast.

As well as the updates that will naturally come as the seasonally available ingredients change, Nine also has its own smoker, so there is also a growing line of dishes, conceived and created in-house around the additional flavours and textures that a smoker provides. Dan and Sharon’s shared love of innovation also means that the menu, whilst anchored around its signature dishes, will regularly feature new and inspiring additions.

One of Nine’s signature starters is inspired by Dan’s favourite flavours from an English breakfast; duck bacon, a crispy poached egg, mushroom ketchup and a confit tomato.

Another dish was inspired by a question from youngest daughter Felicity when the family was on holiday. She had asked Dan the seemingly simple question: “There’s Cornish Pasties and Devonshire Cream Tea, so what is Dorset’s dish?”
On returning, Dan started to research old regional culinary history and alighted on the idea of a pie with beef, forcemeat and Dorset’s unique Blue Vinny at its core; the Nine Dorset Jugger was born. Outside these three main elements, the rest of the ingredients are a secret.

Felicity designed one of the desserts combining cinnamon biscuits, a dark chocolate ganache and charred, handmade marshmallow. The result is the campfire favourite s’mores raised to culinary perfection.

Drink at Nine

Nine Restaurant and Bar offers delicious barista-made coffee (roasted by Bad Hand coffee roasters) and a whole array of soft drinks, as well as a carefully chosen range of wines selected to complement diners’ meals.
